Old St Mary’s, Davenport : Assumption of Mary Painting and Frame Restoration Project Update

You will recall that the Assumption of Mary painting located over the altar at the former St. Mary’s Church on Fillmore was brought to St Anthony’s, Davenport in the merger two years ago. The painting which dates from the 1800’s as well as its frame that had been separated from it and stored in the old school attic, unseen for generations, are both now being fully restored by the The Conservation Center in Chicago. This is the same company that is restoring the stations of the cross paintings in St Anthony’s parish center, that also came to them from St. Mary’s.
