Before there was the Internet, before there was Word for Windows and Note Taking software, there was clunky DOS programs for word processing like Word Perfect. But no laptops and only dot matrix printers…
So students like me then could learn and commit to memory terms and subjects for examinations by use of the hand on notebook paper and also what were known then as 3 x 5” Flash Cards. These are the first dozen or so flash cards I unearthed today in a cardboard box of study cards I came across this afternoon. Anyone out there remember handwriting and note taking by hand while reading required texts and summarizing lecture notes in order to pass classes, master a subject? Remember Blue Books?!
(I actually used the Greek term ‘kairos’ in a homily last Monday…)
