New Men’s Group forming 29 September

Men: take spiritual authority over your passions and distractions, the authority given in baptism

Husbands: the spiritual authority you entered into at your marriage on behalf of your wives

Dads: Live up to the spiritual authority structure that’s been entrusted to and is your mission to lead on behalf of your families

Here’s the information about the Men’s Group:

Gentlemen,

With Father Young’s blessing I am creating a Catholic Men’s Group that will meet once per month at Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church to have small group-style conversations about a wide range of topics. We will work together to share experience, wisdom, and to have deep theological discussions that help us grow as both men and Catholics. I am taking point on getting things going, but the leadership will be shared. I plan to start the group discussions using a book called “Spiritual Authority in the Home.” I have purchased 25 copies and will give them out at the first meeting on 29 September at 6:30pm. Those interested will read the first few chapters (the whole book is only about 100 pages) and we’ll talk about them at the next meeting. This will serve as a primer for a deeper conversation where, hopefully, those of us with experience in this area can help those without. When we’re done with the book, someone else can pick a topic that they can lead the next discussion on.
